WHY TRAIN HAPKIDO?
There are many reasons for starting to practice a Martial Art, self confidence, self defence, wanting to try something new or even wanting to get fit while doing something that exercises your mind.
Hapkido takes the best of traditional Korean methods and embracing modern applications, then blends them into what could be considered one of the most complete martial arts system available. It’s unique ability to continue to grow and develop sees it placed among the best art forms available, yet it sill remains humbly out of the spotlight.
Classes have simple basic rules of FUN, SAFE and then HAPKIDO, with each age group taught specific skills for their physical abilities. Hapkido, if taught correctly, can deliver devastating techniques. However if taught from the correct perspective and mindset will see a true practitioner never needing to use what they have learned.
Hapkido Canberra offers several class types, classes for Kids 5yrs+, Women's Self Defence, Practical Self Defence, Technique and Step Sparring, Family Classes, Advanced Sessions and Seminars with interstate Masters of Hapkido.

Since I was young I was fascinated with martial arts and had always wanted to give something a try. It took me until I moved to Canberra to finally take the plunge. I was attracted to Hapkido Canberra due to the self-defence ethos, the flexibility of classes and the focus on fun and safety… it also looked awesome! I began training in August 2014 on a Saturday morning, and was warmly welcomed onto the mats by SaBomNim Tom and the other students. We had a great class and I signed up that day and I have been training ever since!
